What is a temporary email address?
A temporary email address is a short-lived address used when you do not want a low-risk interaction mixed with your main mailbox. It is useful for some test workflows and one-off registrations, but not for important accounts.
Is MailTemporary free?
The service is designed to be free to use. Availability and limits may change if abuse, infrastructure constraints, or operating costs require adjustments.
Are my emails private?
Standard inboxes are shared by address, so anyone who knows the address can view the same messages. The separate Locked Inbox feature reserves an address for one browser session during a renewable lease capped at three hours. This is access control, not end-to-end encryption. Keep the browser profile private and avoid using temporary inboxes for important or confidential accounts.
How long are emails stored?
Messages expire according to the current service settings. Expired messages are hidden immediately by the API and removed by scheduled cleanup. Inactive mailboxes also expire according to the current settings.
Can I choose my own username?
Yes. A username must be 1–20 characters and use only A–Z, a–z, and 0–9; letters-only and digits-only values are allowed. Reserved administrative names and prefixes are blocked everywhere. Locked Inbox and Password Inbox also reserve exact names in the homepage's RANDOM_NAMES list, but not their name-plus-number variants such as james47. Password Inbox adds a passphrase for access from another browser.
Can I receive verification codes?
Some senders may deliver them, while other services block temporary domains or delay delivery. Do not use a temporary inbox for authentication that protects an important or long-lived account.
Can I use it with Gmail, Discord, Facebook, or another platform?
Compatibility depends entirely on each provider's current rules and anti-abuse systems. This site is independent of those services and cannot promise acceptance. Always follow the platform's terms; use a durable email address for accounts you need to recover.
Can I view attachments or formatted HTML?
To reduce active-content and tracking risks, external content and attachments are not loaded, and links are not activated in the reader.
Why does it say the address is assigned to another browser session?
That message applies to Locked Inbox. It means another browser currently holds the exclusive claim. Choose a different username or wait until the lease ends; the claim is released after missed heartbeats and has a hard three-hour maximum.
Can I recover my inbox on another device?
There is no account or recovery process. Standard inboxes are shared by address, while Locked Inbox claims are tied to a separate browser session. Clearing cookies or switching profiles may end access to a locked claim.
Does MailTemporary send email?
No. It is a receive-only mailbox service. It does not provide outbound email or a reply function.
Why has a message not arrived?
The sender may not have sent it, the message may be delayed or filtered, the address may have expired, or the sender may reject disposable domains. Check the address carefully and follow the sender's permitted resend process. Do not repeatedly request codes in a way that triggers a service's anti-abuse controls.
