Claim an available email username for one active browser session. Keep this page open to renew the claim; it releases after inactivity and has a hard three-hour maximum.
This page claims an available username for the current browser session. Usernames can contain letters, digits, or both. If another locked session is already using that address, choose another one.
Keep sensitive accounts out of temporary email. A browser claim is temporary access control, not end-to-end encryption or a recoverable account. Do not use this service for banking, health records, password recovery, or accounts you need to keep.
Locked Inbox gives one active browser exclusive use of a username for a short period. The browser sends a heartbeat while the page is open; missing heartbeats release the address, and the claim cannot last longer than three hours.
Choose any available 1–20 character username made of ASCII letters and digits, except exact names used by the homepage generator; variants such as james47 are allowed; or generate a cryptographically random username. An active locked claim cannot be taken over.
A short renewable lease stays active while this browser continues to check in. Closing the page attempts to release the claim immediately.
After three hours the claim ends even if the page stays open. Another browser may then claim the same username, so do not use this for important accounts.
Use this mode for brief, low-risk workflows that benefit from limiting who can claim the same username at one time.
A username stays unavailable to another Locked Inbox session while its claim is active.
The lease is refreshed while active, expires after missed heartbeats, and never exceeds the three-hour maximum.
External content and attachments are not loaded, reducing common email tracking and script risks.
Use a temporary email address for short-lived, low-stakes interactions. Choose standard mode for convenience or Locked Inbox when you need a temporary exclusive claim.

Use the address with a service that permits temporary email. New messages appear in this browser.

No. Standard inboxes are shared by email address: anyone who uses the same address can see messages there. Choose Locked Inbox for an exclusive claim tied to one browser session for up to three hours.
That message applies to Locked Inbox only. An active claim cannot be taken over by another browser. The claim renews while the page is active, ends after inactivity, and has a strict three-hour maximum.
Messages and inactive inboxes expire according to the service’s current settings. Expired messages are hidden by the API before scheduled database cleanup runs.
Some services accept temporary addresses and others block them. Acceptance can change at any time. Follow each service's terms and use a long-term mailbox when you need account recovery.
